Optime Group are proudly working in partnership with a well-known Gatwick Airport ground handling supplier to recruit a team of Baggage Handlers on a flexible working basis. PLEASE NOTE: APPLICANTS MUST HOLD A FULL VALID UK DRIVING LICENCE What's on offer: Rate of pay: £14.77 per hour Weekly pay (Every Friday) 2 weeks of paid training provided (You must be available to attend the full two weeks training). You must pick up a minimum of 2-3 shifts per week, but Sundays are essential for you to work. (Shift timing examples below) Ongoing shifts and development opportunities. Trained on multiple skills to operate effectively. Confirmed training dates: March 2025 April 2025 Key Duties: Process customers luggage, ensuring it is correctly loaded onto aircraft for departure and unloaded upon arrival, ensuring proper weight and balance distribution. Work both airside and within the Undercroft (baggage unit). This is a physical role, requiring candidates to be fit and able to lift and move luggage up to 30kg regularly. Manage downtime between arrivals and departures. Operate various vehicles and machinery (e.g., mobile stair units for passenger boarding, belt loaders, buggies, tug vehicles). Adapt to adverse weather conditions such as rain, snow, or extreme temperatures to ensure safety and efficiency. Collaborate with ramp agents, ground handling staff, and airline personnel for smooth aircraft turnaround. Full training provided (5 days classroom-based training and shadowing). Full PPE will be provided. Shifts available: Below are the shifts that will be available on the Elevate App, you must be able to work a minimum of 2-3 shifts per week and able to work both AM and PM shifts. Working Sundays are essential for you to work. This is not a full-time role. Coverage required on the following days: Mondays Thursdays Fridays Saturdays Sundays Hours: The standard operational hours are typically from 05:00 AM to 10:30 PM. However, as Gatwick Airport operates 24 hours, schedules may occasionally require earlier or later shifts. Flexibility is essential for this role. Minimum monthly hours required for training purposes. Requirements: Full UK Manual Driving Licence (mandatory) Valid Passport or Driving Licence /Birth Certificate or National ID card. This role requires you to stand for long periods of time (6-8 hours).
