Job Description
Advisory Teacher: Normanton Featherstone and South East Cluster Area
Required: September 2025 (Temporary for 1 year)

Join a dynamic and passionate team of advisory teachers, dedicated to supporting schools in meeting the unique needs of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact on the educational journey of pupils with social communication needs, social emotional mental health, or learning needs.
As a key member of the team, you'll be providing expert advice and guidance across a range of educational settings and provisions in the areas of Normanton, Featherstone, and South East Wakefield. You'll collaborate with SSLSOs to help develop and implement inclusive practices that ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.
Whether you have experience in primary or secondary schools, your skills in fostering inclusive education will contribute to creating a more equitable learning environment. This role is perfect for individuals with a passion for driving inclusion within the mainstream sector.
Responsibilities
We are looking for candidates with knowledge and experiences of:
* Pupils with identified needs of ASD/Social communication, social emotional mental health, learning support.
* The ability to fulfil teacher standards as well as adhere to the SEN Code of Practice, providing a graduated approach to pupils who may have an SEN.
* The ability to provide specialist support and advice to pupils, schools, families and other agencies with respect to children and young people with additional needs.
* The ability to use assessments and observations to identify a range of needs and provide strategies to enhance inclusive provision.
* Who can promote and support the achievement of all children through work with officers, agencies, schools, families and pupils where support is required to ensure inclusion of needs.
The post is full time teacher pay and conditions (27.5hrs TT). Candidates must hold qualified teacher status.
Central offices are based in Wakefield One, though candidates are able to work remotely whilst visiting allocated schools within the cluster area.
