Summary We're looking for a Volunteering & Community Manager to join our portfolio team. We are a dynamic, diverse and friendly team covering a wide area, across which you will be taking the lead with our community work and nurturing and building new partnerships with local community groups and organisations. You’ll be capable of managing complex relationships in this external facing role, through which you'll lead for greater engagement, ensuring access to nature and cultural heritage for our local communities on their terms, including support for our work with children and young people. You'll support volunteer managers across the team with improving the volunteer experience and increasing support in targeted ways. This role is required to work with vulnerable groups including children and any offer of employment or volunteering is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check. What it's like to work here As part of the North Coast team, you will be based at our office at Glenmona House, which is on the edge of Cushendun village. Our North Coast team looks after more than 20 different locations along a 50 mile stretch of stunning coastline, from Downhill in the west to Cushendun in the east. We look after historic buildings such as Mussenden Temple, Hezlett House and Glenmona Lodge. We are a countryside portfolio, which facilitates access to many beautiful coastal locations; Portstewart Strand, Ballyconaghan on Rathlin island, White Park Bay, Murlough Bay and Dunseverick to name a few. Our team already work with many volunteers and community groups to deliver our conservation work, both in nature and our historic buildings, to create opportunities for people to engage with our work. This is an exciting time to join our team as we have just launched our new strategy; at its core are three ambitious 2050 goals: to restore nature, to end unequal access to nature, beauty and history, and to inspire millions more people to care and take action. We will work toward them over the next decade, but we cannot achieve this alone; we will be working much more in partnership with others, and much further beyond our own land and buildings in communities, towns and cities. What you'll be doing You’ll be part of our property leadership team thinking strategically about all of our community work and as the property lead for volunteering. As well as helping us to reach more diverse audiences, you’ll create a flexible and inclusive environment for communities and partners. You’ll look at how we can improve and diversify the ways we partner with communities and will ensure that our volunteer managers feel supported, and our volunteers feel valued, included, and have a voice. You’ll support the General Manager to continue to embed an inclusive culture. A key part of your role will be developing partnerships with local communities, ensuring that we’re enabling access to nature and cultural heritage on their terms. Reporting to the General Manager you'll collaborate with the portfolio leadership team to strategically plan, implement, evolve and support the portfolio volunteer managers in how they lead for volunteering within their departments. You’ll coach colleagues to increase their confidence and capability, creating a positive, flexible, and inclusive environment whilst growing the number of volunteers. You'll be a key member of the portfolio leadership team and will be collectively responsible for the effective delivery of the portfolio business plan. You’ll be able to strategically plan, implement and evolve volunteering and our work with communities, creating a culture where Community and Volunteering work is planned and resourced, sustainable and efficiently managed You are able to build effective and collaborative working relationships with property teams, partners, tenants and local communities; continuously building, growing and diversifying these relationships.
