Job Description
We are working with a global leader within the energy transition industry, who are repeatedly awarded for their levels of sustainability. They have grown their legal team exponentially over the last couple of years and are not looking to slow down in 2025!
They are keen to onboard someone clued into the sustainability space, ideally with exposure to Environmental and Public law, to come in and aid the growth of the UK legal department.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide expert legal advice on sustainability, environmental regulations, and corporate responsibility initiatives.
2. Support the implementation and development of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) strategies and policies.
3. Advise on compliance with international environmental laws, sustainability frameworks, and climate change legislation.
4. Draft and review agreements related to sustainability initiatives, carbon credits, and green financing.
5. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders on sustainability-related matters and reporting.
6. Monitor and interpret emerging sustainability regulations and guide the organization in adapting to new laws.
Key Requirements:
1. 5-6 years PQE with a focus on sustainability, environmental law, or related fields.
2. Strong knowledge of global sustainability frameworks and ESG regulations.
3. Experience working in-house within a corporate environment is a plus.
4. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
5. A proactive and strategic mindset, with the ability to manage complex legal challenges in the sustainability space.
