SEN TA/Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant Location: Derby Contract Type: Long term, full-time and part-time options available Start Date: November 2024 Pay: £85-£95 per day Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with BSL looking for a new challenge? Bookmark currently has a full-time vacancy at an excellent SEN school in Derby. Due to the nature of the school, you must have experience with BSL/British Sign Language and be able to support engaging and creative lessons. Responsibilities: • Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored lessons that meet the individual needs and abilities of students with special educational needs and disabilities. • Collaborate with the school's SEND department and other professionals to support individualised education plans (IEPs) for students. • Utilise a range of teaching strategies, resources, and assistive technologies to engage and support students in their learning. • Support the teacher in adapting and differentiating instruction to accommodate different learning styles and abilities, providing additional help as needed. • Assist with behaviour management and contribute to creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active participation and respect. Requirements: • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly in a SEND setting. • BSL to level 2 or above. • Proven experience supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities, with a strong understanding of different needs. • Familiarity with a range of teaching resources, assistive technologies, and interventions for supporting students with SEND. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, teachers, parents/guardians, and external professionals. • Strong organisational skills to assist in managing individual student progress, assessments, and interventions. • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to support students' social and emotional development.
