We are looking to appoint Learning Support Assistants to join our hardworking and friendly team, working to support our special needs children Aged 3-19 years covering a whole range of complex needs including ASD, SLD, PMLD and challenging behaviour.
The school also offers a bespoke curriculum that focuses on a pupil's immediate learning needs and long-term aspirations and creatively explores ways to remove barriers to engagement and learning. We have a significant focus on the development of functional communication and Emotional Regulation (readiness to learn), including the importance of meeting Sensory Integration needs. They use a wide range of evidence-based strategies to meet the needs of our pupils. We also work collaboratively with a range of therapists to support a holistic approach to our pupil's development.
General Duties:
Understand specific learning needs and styles and provide differentiated support to pupils individually and within a group
Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities according to pupils' responses as appropriate
Establish positive relationships with pupils supported
Provide feedback to pupils in relation to attainment and progress under the guidance of the teacher
Support pupils with activities which support literacy and numeracy skills
To attend to pupils' personal needs including help with social, welfare, care and health matters, including toileting, dressing, feeding, mobility etc.
Carry out specific additional care tasks for individual pupils only at the direction of a suitably qualified member of staff and once full training has been given
Promote positive pupil behaviour in line with school policies and help keep pupils on task
Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, writing reports and records as required
Assist with the development and implementation of IEP/EHCP
To respect confidentiality at all times
To comply with individual responsibilities, in accordance with the role, for health & safety in the workplace
