We have an exciting opportunity in the Geriatrics & Frailty Division care of the elderly wards at King George site at BHRUT Hospitals. We are looking to recruit a Band 6 nurse to join our existing highly motivated team at KGH Site. These unit/wards are based at our King George Hospital Site.
Care of the Elderly is currently undergoing a process of change to ensure we meet the ongoing needs of our patients and provide an excellent standard of care every time, every day. This is an ideal opportunity for you to bring your experiences and visions to help us deliver these changes.
We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse with a passion for delivering high-quality care, training our staff in partnership with patients and their relatives, putting the patients at the centre of our PRIDE values. You will have responsibility for this area of nursing, maintaining high standards of care and training.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide professional leadership, support, and advice to the nursing workforce within the Care wards at KGH site.
2. Drive developments in nursing practice to improve patient care and experience.
3. Facilitate education and training for registered and non-registered nursing staff.
4. Act as a role model and provide educational and training support in the clinical area for all aspects of nursing.
5. Deliver education and training in relation to core skills as identified by BEST with support from the PDN.
6. Support changes in nursing practice based on evidence, research, audit findings, and best practice.
7. Be a principal driver in the teaching and progress of projects identified from national initiatives and the Trust’s Nursing & Midwifery & Quality Strategies.
8. Provide support to the Senior Sister in effectively leading and managing the ward.
9. Participate in all ward activities as an effective team member, supporting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
10. Assess care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
11. Teach and supervise qualified and unqualified staff, acting as a role model to junior staff.

Patients across north east London are benefitting from two new state-of-the-art theatres at KGH. Our Community Diagnostic Centres at Barking Community Hospital and St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub will significantly increase the number of scans that can be carried out.
We’re looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record next year. This will mean the records of any patient visiting one of the seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health will be accessible to the clinical teams. It’ll make things easier for staff and will be better for patients.
