5 x 6 hour shifts including weekends and bank holidays.
The post holder is a member of the Facilities Team based in Housekeeping and Domestic Services and will be responsible for carrying out catering and cleaning duties across the Cheswold Park Hospital site, reporting to Housekeeping and Domestic Supervisors and the Housekeeping Manager. The role requires flexibility in approach to the duties.

Main duties of the job
1. Clean all areas following the National Standards of Cleanliness, including signing off sheets to confirm the work has been completed.
2. Serve food and complete relevant paperwork, which includes food temperature checks.
3. Prepare small amounts of food from the freezer.
4. Work as a team and be able to prioritize your workload.
5. Potential for overtime if needed to cover sickness and holidays.

Job responsibilities
1. Provide a high standard of domestic, catering and general household duties within a ward environment for people with mental health problems. Duties will be carried out in line with the National standards of cleanliness.
2. All members of hospital staff are required to respect the confidentiality of matters relating to patients and report any adverse incidents to their Line Manager.
3. Establish and maintain good working relationships and clear areas of communications with ward staff and service users whilst delivering the core duties of a housekeeping service.
4. Receive and store all food in accordance with set standards and Trust policy.
5. Maintain accurate records in relation to food storage and regeneration of food in accordance with Trust policy.
6. Regenerate/prepare and serve meals and sundry items of food in accordance with set standards. Provide and prepare ad hoc meals when requested by service users, liaising with named nurse to ensure care plans are followed.
7. Prepare for meal times ensuring menus are displayed in accordance with set standards.
8. Prepare for the requisitioning of sundry items of food, cleaning materials, linen and equipment for authorisation by the Clinical or Facilities Service Manager.
9. Remove and store dirty linen to appropriate storage area with due care and attention to moving and handling techniques.
10. Store linen and personal clothing as laundered and ensure sufficient stocks are available at all times to meet service user requirements.
11. Launder bed linen within the unit as required and in accordance with Trust policy.
12. Support service users in guiding them to use laundry equipment when required.
13. Communicate with multidisciplinary teams (nursing staff, catering, dieticians and facilities) to ensure service users receive special diets in accordance with nutritional requirements and care plans.
14. Liaise and communicate any menu changes and answer any queries relating to menu changes with service users and nursing staff.

Qualifications
* Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety or willing to undertake and successfully complete within 12 months (can be obtained through SWYPFT).
* Basic literacy and numeric skills.
Experience
* Previous experience of working in a demanding work environment.
* Previous experience of working in an industrial cleaning and/or catering environment.
* Experience within a customer care or a patient-focused environment.
Physical Attributes
* Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post.
* A satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years (subject to the need to act with fairness and equality of opportunity, particularly where the sickness is related to a disability and/or pregnancy).

* Good interpersonal skills. Able to communicate with service users, work colleagues and visitors in a courteous and sensitive manner.
