An opportunity has arisen for a Facilities Technician to play a key role in maintaining and supporting a smooth-running facilities management system across multiple UK sites. This role provides autonomy to manage daily work schedules while ensuring high standards are met. Due to the nature of the position, Friday afternoon work is regularly required, along with occasional out-of-hours or weekend work when needed.
Key Responsibilities of a Facilities Technician
* Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on essential equipment, including generators, compressors, air conditioning, and air quality systems.
* Conduct monthly safety checks, such as fire extinguisher inspections, emergency light tests, exit checks, water temperature monitoring, and site security walkarounds.
* Manage the Facilities Service Request Log, working closely with department managers to plan and complete maintenance and DIY tasks.
* Assist in arranging and overseeing contractors for larger maintenance projects.
* Carry out general maintenance, including plumbing repairs, fixture and fitting upkeep, minor electrical work (e.g., fixing light fittings, adding plug sockets), and decorating tasks.
* Ensure all activities comply with health and safety standards, reporting any issues to the Facilities Manager.
* Supervise external contractors, ensuring compliance with risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
* Order parts and equipment through the purchasing system.
* Monitor and manage waste collection, arranging pickups and resolving any related issues.
* Assist in the execution of larger facilities projects, working with managers and contractors to ensure smooth delivery.
* Respond to emergencies, making situations safe and arranging contractor attendance when necessary.
* Participate as part of the Business Continuity Emergency Response Team.
