Band 4 - £32,546 to £36,130 per annum, pro rata
About the Post
This is a part time permanent position where the main role is to support students with practical/clinical learning skills in our brand-new dental hygiene and therapy facilities for our BSc (Hons) Dental Hygiene and Therapy programme.
The successful post-holder will have the responsibility of maintaining and providing technical support for the laboratory equipment. You will support lecturers and students with simulation/clinical skills teaching in the dental hygiene and therapy teaching/simulation/clinical facility. Our facilities are composed of 24 dental phantom-heads and other relevant dental hygiene and therapy equipment. You will also perform sterilization of equipment and maintain our sterilization room. You will be preparing the suite and equipment for student and third-party training sessions and supporting teaching staff and students using the equipment and developing their practical/clinical skills. You will also place orders and ensure that consumables remain well stocked, and that equipment is serviced and operational when needed.
Overall, this is an exciting opportunity to join our team and contribute to the improvement of oral health education and training of the future multi-skilled dental workforce that aims to fill the gap in dental care in society. You will work collaboratively with a range of teams across the Ipswich campus and develop a role that will be stimulating, varied, and rewarding.
About the Team
There will be close collaboration between the Dental Hygiene and Therapy course teaching team, other members of the University's technical and learning support teams, finance directorate and students. The role will also include collaborative cross-university working in other areas to support student learning and the rest of the technical team; this may include the life science laboratories, health and wellbeing suite and exercise science areas.
There will be the opportunity to work with the teaching team and learning designers to create learning materials, protocols and digital assets as the role develops.
The successful candidate will be based mainly in the new dental education suite of the modern James Hehir Building on Ipswich's historic waterfront and marina.
