We are looking for an innovative, driven and experienced manager who will head up the Council’s Bridges team, during what is an exciting and sustained period of infrastructure investment within Norfolk. You will be responsible for leading our specialist in-house bridges team, which plays a key part in implementing the Council’s Together, for Norfolk corporate plan. The bridges team are responsible for the quality of all technical work for structures, associated resources, contracts, health & safety, and risks. The successful applicant will have a vital role in ensuring effective risk management and that the Bridges asset in Norfolk is managed effectively. The role also involves close working with the Council’s professional services provider, who is integrated within your team. As well as providing leadership, vision and direction to the team, you will report to the Head of Design and Development, directly contributing towards the delivery of exciting highways and transport infrastructure schemes across the county. Norfolk County Council has an excellent record of securing additional funding, and over the next few years the highways capital programme will be delivering a significant amount of infrastructure improvements across Norfolk. You will play a key role in delivering many of these exciting and innovative infrastructure schemes. Ideally you will be a Chartered Engineer with a proven track record in leading a technical team and infrastructure delivery. As well as being able to demonstrate technical and managerial competencies, you will need to be flexible and adaptable, and be able to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders, including politicians, all tiers of local government and other public and private sector organisations. Professionalism, strong interpersonal skills, teamworking skills and being able to multi-task over a range of activities are also essential qualities.
