Overview.
The Quality & Compliance Technician – Technical & QHSE reports to the Technical & QHSE Manager and is based in Shorts Industries Limited Head Office in Bradford.
This role and is expected to develop and grow in support of the growth of the business.
This is a hands-on role executing the quality processes of the business.
Support the update of the quality systems to amend the scope of our ISO accreditations and successfully passing the initial audits by our UK Approved Body.
The Quality & Compliance Technician – Technical & QHSE will ensure that our business processes are supported and executed in line with the accredited processes.
The Quality & Compliance Technician – Technical & QHSE will review, update, and then execute quality systems appropriate for a growing medium size business.
Main Role and Responsibilities.
Working as part of the Technical & QHSE function, the Quality & Compliance Technician – Technical & QHSE is responsible for managing the systems and processes within Shorts Integrated Management System to ensure that our quality objectives are met.
Short’s aim is to achieve at least 99% conformance from a product quality perspective overall and to achieve full legal compliance.
The Quality & Compliance Technician – Technical & QHSE will.
* Measure product quality performance and put in place any corrective actions required to achieve our overall objectives.
* Carrying our internal audits consistent with our Integrated Management System and ISO accreditations.
* Ensure that our Integrated Management System is fit for purpose, is updated if the need arises, and is adhered to by all Divisions in the execution of day-to-day business.
* Ensure that all records are maintained as required by the Shorts Integrated Management System and the business is audit ready at any time.
* Manage the relationship with our auditor and approved body such that scheduled audits are conducted effectively and in a professional manner.
* Ensure that our systems and processes mean that we continue to uphold our ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 accreditations.
* Ensure that we meet the obligations of our LiftCert Accreditation and audits are conducted in line with schedules and in a professional manner.
* Ensure the continuation of our accreditations by SafeContractor.
* Support each Divisional Manager with the execution of their processes to ensure product compliance.
* Support the overall business with ongoing review of legislation and compliance requirements so that day to day business is able to be conducted in a fully compliant manner.
* Support the Technical & QHSE Manager with the management of the QHSE systems and records.
* Support the Technical & QHSE Manager in oversight of the warranty process and Corrective Action Reporting.
* Responding to customer requests for information and ensuring Shorts remains on all our customers ‘preferred supplier lists’.
* Completing the designated responsibilities within the in-house UKCA process.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience.
* English and Maths GCSE or equivalent.
* Quality and/or Compliance Systems training and certification.
* Experience in the lift or related engineering industry, or construction sector in general.
* Evidence of experience of dealing with ISO Management Systems.
* Experience in a quality and/or compliance technician or management role.
* Experience with MS Office suite.
* Good Microsoft Excel skills (evidence of training an advantage).
* Experience with Sage (Or similar financial software).
