Job Title: Network Engineer – Networking/VOIP Specialist Location: Lister Hospital, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, SG1 4AB Trust: East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust Job Type / Shift Patterns: Full-time, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday to Friday (100% onsite) Pay Rate: £21.97 per hour (Including Holiday Pay £24.62) Contract Duration: 3 months (High possibility of extension) Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer with expertise in Networking and VOIP systems to support the IT infrastructure at Lister Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for configuring and maintaining network systems, including VLANs, VOIP, and patching. This is a temporary position, requiring on-site presence, with the possibility of occasional travel to other Trust sites. The role offers an opportunity to work within a fast-paced NHS environment and make a significant impact on IT service delivery. Roles and Responsibilities: Configure, install, and maintain network equipment including switches, routers, and firewalls. Manage and support VOIP systems and related technologies. Perform patch management to ensure network security and optimal performance. Troubleshoot and resolve networking issues promptly. Support the implementation of VLANs, static/dynamic routing, and VPNs. Assist in the management of network infrastructure and ensure business continuity. Work closely with the IT team to support IT EUC (End-User Computing) solutions. Provide technical support for IT call logging systems, ensuring adherence to ITIL standards. Skills or Experience Required: Strong knowledge of networking concepts including VLANs, subnets, switches, routers, firewalls, and access points. Experience with VOIP systems, and patch management. Good understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and VPNs. Familiarity with ITIL standards and best practices for IT service management. Key Requirements: Must have experience in networking (switching, routing, VLAN, VPNs). Knowledge of VOIP systems is essential. Experience with network patching and IT infrastructure management. ITIL knowledge and familiarity with call logging systems. Software Requirements: Familiarity with IT EUC (End-User Computing) tools. Experience with network monitoring and management software. IT call logging systems experience (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy). Education Required: A relevant IT qualification (e.g., Networking, IT Support, or related field) or equivalent work experience. Cisco certification (CCNA) or similar networking certification is desirable.
