The University of Hull has recently undergone a Change process across academic functions following extensive consultation with stakeholders from across the University. As such, a new role has been created to effectively support academic delivery at a school level.
Enhancing student experience and increasing student recruitment is key to the Faculty's and the University's success. This role will play a key part in further improving delivery of provision and student experience.
It is an exciting time to be at the University of Hull as we build our One Team culture, drive service improvement and support our students and staff achieve their personal goals and aspirations.
We are seeking to appoint a continuing post of Technical Manager (Game Design, Graphic Design and Immersive Technologies) as we move to implementation of a new faculty structure.
Duties:
1. To co-ordinate and identify the development of technical resources required to support teaching and research as required to include the procurement of materials in consultation with the Subject Group Head, Faculty head of Strategy and Planning or equivalent role holders;
2. To take overall responsibility for Health and Safety issues in the Screen (Game Design, Graphic Design and Immersive) Section of the School or other organisational unit for which the subject area belongs, including space utilisation and ensuring the necessary Health and Safety and public license requirements are adhered to;
3. To participate in some programme and modular leadership for curricula within an identifiable area of technical specialism with the screen subject area and wider School. This should include at least one or more of the following specialisms: immersive technology; game design; graphic design; interactive technologies. This post will also include the delivery of lectures and workshops with a strong vocational emphasis and some theoretical aspects;
4. To co-ordinate the production activity within the screen subject area in the area of Game Design, Graphic Design and Immersive Technologies for internal and external activity, including involvement in joint projects within the school by liaising with other technical teams from different subject areas;
5. To lead on the implementation of student proficiency tests ensuring that all technical areas are complying with up to date Health and Safety at Work Act.
