We have an exciting opportunity for an Autism Support Worker to join our dedicated team at a welcoming school in Bovington!
About the Role
As an Autism Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting students with ASD, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a supportive and inclusive educational setting.
Key Responsibilities of Autism Support Worker
* Assist in the development and implementation of individualised education plans for students with ASD, tailoring educational activities and resources to meet the specific needs of each student.
* Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with ASD, helping them understand and complete their work, and providing additional explanations and assistance as needed.
* Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and adjusting support strategies as necessary.
* Participate in meetings and discussions to share insights and strategies for supporting each student’s learning and well-being.
* Help foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where all students feel valued and included.
* Employ different instructional techniques and materials to cater to the diverse learning styles and needs of students.
* Keep detailed notes on each student’s development and communicate this information to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties.
Requirements of Autism Support Worker
* Experience working with students with ASD.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues, building positive and supportive relationships.
* Demonstrate the ability to establish trust and rapport with all members of the school community.
* Show a deep commitment to helping students with ASD by exhibiting patience and empathy in your interactions.
* Additional qualifications or training in special education are advantageous but not mandatory, providing you with additional skills and knowledge to support students with ASD effectively.
