As a Band 6 Ward Sister on our E8- HPB Surgery and Urology Ward, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing a 26-bed ward that cares for a diverse group of patients, including those requiring post-operative, pre-operative, and critical care step-down support. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work within a specialised team, providing excellent care to patients undergoing complex surgeries and recovery.
Ward Leadership: Take charge of the day-to-day running of the ward, ensuring high standards of patient care are consistently delivered. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the team to deliver seamless care.
Clinical Supervision: Provide leadership, direction, and support to nursing staff, including Band 5 nurses, healthcare assistants, and students. Support staff development through mentorship and clinical supervision, ensuring all staff are equipped to deliver high-quality care.
Staffing & Resource Management: Oversee the allocation and management of staffing, ensuring the ward is adequately staffed at all times, carrying the surgical bleep. Supporting the Ward Manager with rostering, performance appraisals, and training.
Health & Safety: Ensure a safe and clean working environment, adhering to infection control standards, health and safety protocols, and Trust policies at all times.
Leadership & Advocacy: Be a role model for nursing staff, demonstrating excellent clinical practice, professionalism, and leadership. Advocate for patients’ needs, ensuring their voices are heard and respected throughout their care journey.
