The Role:
So, what will you be doing as a Field Service Engineer?
Lead equipment activities, including pre-installation surveys, installations, removals, and defect rectification. Oversee and manage equipment fitting activities, coordinating with staff and external contractors. Conduct system setting to work and commissioning. Present equipment for Installation Inspections, Harbour Acceptance, and Sea Acceptance trials. Plan and execute sea-going and land-based trials. Perform annual maintenance and health checks on equipment. Investigate and rectify defects both in the UK and overseas. Produce detailed engineering reports and provide technical advice to internal and external customers. Utilize solid decision-making skills to make timely decisions during trials and installations, which can have financial implications on the business.
What are we looking for in our next Field Service Engineer?
HNC/HND or higher in Electronics, Electrical, or Electro-mechanical Engineering. Experience in installation and commissioning of Naval systems. Familiarity with formal acceptance of Naval systems or a Naval background is an advantage. Expertise in fault diagnosis and rectification of Naval systems. Proficient in a broad range of engineering skills and Microsoft Office tools. Defence industry experience. Full UK Driving License. Regular travel within the UK and overseas. Ability to work in confined spaces and challenging environments (extreme hot/humid or cold climates). Willingness to work long hours to meet customer objectives.
