The ITSO (IT Services and Airline Operations) organisation manages and is accountable for the rapid delivery of the trustworthy, scalable, and efficient IT infrastructure services needed to support the technology critical for easyJet’s future growth plans and ambitions.
I&O Platforms are part of the ITSO organisation and form the backbone of easyJet's technology capabilities. They underpin nearly everything we do at easyJet - from providing transparency on the state of our technology services to ensuring efficient and secure hosting of our data. Effective I&O Platforms are critical to enabling our future growth aspirations and our ambition to become Europe's most loved airline.
I&O Platforms consist of:
1. Observability Platform – monitor end-to-end IT infrastructure, network, and application services.
2. Hosting Platform – provide application teams with technology environments (e.g., server, database, etc.) required to build and run IT solutions.
3. Connectivity Platform – connect devices to our IT services and to the internet.
4. Identity and Access Platform – provide employees with simple and secured access to IT services.
5. IT Common Tools Platform – provide IT leaders and teams tools to work efficiently (e.g., development and testing environments, etc.).
Over the next 2-3 years, Platforms will evolve significantly, along with the evolution of technology capabilities and business needs (e.g., Dev(Sec)Ops, AIOps, etc.).
Job Purpose
The Platform Lead is end-to-end accountable for delivering efficient infrastructure service and operations – enabling the smooth execution of business-critical processes and services at easyJet (e.g., easyjet.com, airline operations, etc.). Working in close collaboration with a Supplier Service Lead, the role ensures that the Platform services provided are reliable, robust and align with easyJet’s IT Domain requests and business needs. The Platform lead is also accountable for optimising technology platforms and ensures that easyJet stays ahead of technological advancements and industry trends.
Key Skills required
* Demonstrable experience within an IT department.
* Experience in leadership responsibilities, including strategy, budgeting, and staffing.
* Experience in IT governance and leadership within a large or complex organisation.
* Understanding and experience in IT service management (ITSM) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
* Ability to evangelise and implement transformational initiatives where the target state included agile, DevOps, SRE, cloud adoption at scale and SD-WAN.
* Consolidated operations capabilities in large, complex enterprise organisations to deliver improved efficiency, while balancing customer preferences for agility.
* Experience in maximising effectiveness of nearshore / offshore resource models and experience in managing and delivering through third-party suppliers, focusing on business outcomes and employee experience.
* Experience in building cloud management solutions, including software development, integration, and ongoing engineering aspects.
* Experience in creating self-service mechanisms to streamline infrastructure provisioning and ongoing management.
* Experience in working in an environment leveraging agile at scale approaches.
* Experience in supporting the shift from Capex to Opex with processes - e.g., those to comprehensively manage and optimise cloud costs in a collaborative fashion.
* Data-savvy, strong data analysis skills and experience in applying AI / ML to solve large data challenges and / or to enhance the customer experience.
* Budget planning and financial management, preferably with showback and/or chargeback models.
* Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning, and execution skills.
