The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join the Welfare Rights & Debt Advice Team and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, helping us to achieve our ambition of Starting Well, Living Well, and Ageing Well in Tameside.
We are looking for an experienced Welfare Rights Officer, to assist our residents to maximise their income through benefits advice and appeal representation
Your main responsibilities will be to provide specialist level welfare benefits advice both virtually and face to face, undertake casework, deliver talks/training, produce written and oral information, staff our telephone advice line and represent clients at social security appeal tribunals up to and including Upper Tribunal level as required.
About You
The successful applicant will need to have relevant, demonstrable, up to date experience in providing welfare benefits advice work including social security appeal tribunal representation. An excellent working knowledge of the benefits system, especially in the areas of sickness and disability, are also required along with first class communication skills.
This role is a designated customer facing role under the fluency duty and requires a specified level of spoken English in the person specification
