Our factory in Coventry is one of our largest snacks manufacturing sites in the UK and home of Doritos! It is a multi-technology plant with significant automation and is home to around 650 of our team. Our Coventry site is a fast-paced and ever-changing environment where we can go from idea to implementation in a matter of days. This is a Monday to Friday day-based role, with flexibility required during core shifts/weekends.
Responsibilities
* Develop and guide a team of 3 EHS Coordinators.
* Formulate with the EHS Manager and play a pivotal role in the execution of the annual safety strategy and targets for the site.
* Ensure the H&S plan is devolved into SMART objectives at all levels on site/function to develop a sustainable health & safety culture.
* Influence overall EHS strategy, change projects, and site Must Win Battles with site stakeholders.
* Partner with EHS Lead and EHS Teams from across the Supply Chain to implement Global, Sector, and UK-based EHS policy and local legislation.
* Partner with site management to drive the EHS culture and behavioural safety on site.
* Drive the compliance process against the GEHSMS, ensuring cross-site ownership of all standards inclusive of the auditing process. Provide coaching for internal auditors and own completion of corrective actions.
* Serve as Standard Owner for GEHSMS standards within the scope of technical ability and competency.
* Coach and mentor SOMs to drive continuous improvement and prevent recurrence.
* Serve as Standard Owner for generic and technical Risk Assessments. Maintain and review existing assessments and conduct assessments as required, including new technology or procedures.
* Provide daily support and coaching to Shift Ops Managers and Technical/Non-technical Support functions in the resolution of Health & Safety issues, plus compliance with GEHSMS and current legislation.
* Support in change management projects to ensure safe execution of all change and risk reduction is included in all project development plans.
* Monitor and review site’s EHS competence development, including the EHS team. Develop and deliver training to the front line teams, including safe working practices, technical risk assessment, and environmental procedures.
* Build and maintain an internal communication and training program in accordance with GEHSMS requirements.
* Assume leadership of national Top 10 standards as required, including coaching other site standard owners to achieve national improvements.
* Travel to UK sites to support as necessary.
Qualifications
* Fundamental knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety legislation.
* NEBOSH general certificate (Required).
* Requirement for NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent or working towards this within a set/agreed time period.
* Preference for Approved General Risk Assessor, PUWER/COSHH, DSE, Manual Handling assessment trained.
* Leadership – Confident when providing direction to senior management and peers. Ability to manage conflict and sensitivity between commercial and safety requirements to achieve a safe outcome.
* Coaching – An articulate communicator who can listen to and understand people’s needs and tailor the coaching style to reflect these differences.
* Influencing – Collaborate well with others to deliver results. Effective communicator to build credibility, develop relationships at all levels, and positively influence behaviours.
* Communication - Able to communicate clearly and confidently at all levels - 1:1, in writing, and presenting in group situations. Comfortable dealing with difficult discussions and situations.
* Environmental IEMA/NEBOSH Certificate (Desirable).
* Technical competency DSEAR, Confined Space (Desirable).
