As a niche Managing General Agent holding both Lloyd’s Coverholder and Broker Status, this firm is recognised as a market-leader across its chosen disciplines, offering innovative solutions and adapting quickly to changes in a fast-paced market.
It has a flat-management structure, headed by a highly respected leadership team and is well-known for employing some of the most talented Underwriters in the market. Underwriters benefit from a robust infrastructure, market-leading systems and processes, while retaining the autonomy of a ‘hands on’ Underwriter, taking each risk on its own merit within the binder parameters laid down by insurer partners.
Your primary focus will be to write Liability risks within the Construction sector (specifically for Roofers & Scaffolders). This sector is flourishing, growing 20% year on year, and benefiting from a constantly growing number of broker enquiries. The company already writes a great deal of business in the South East and is looking to capitalize on opportunities within the regions.
Using your technical expertise, you will typically focus on writing new and renewal Employer’s & Public Liability risks with premiums averaging around £5,000. This is not a sales-style role as a wealth of enquiries are readily available. However, ideally you will be able to bring new broker relationships to the company (or bolster existing ones) and promote Group products in the market, which will include attending meetings, either in person at brokers’ offices or virtually.
This is a remote-based role with a high degree of flexibility; however, you will be required to attend a regional office occasionally to meet colleagues. For those who live closer to a regional office, you will be welcome to attend the office more regularly, if desired.
It is essential that you have experience of underwriting business for Roofers & Scaffolders, along with a good understanding of both EL & PL insurance. You’ll display a flexible, ‘hands on’ approach to underwriting while generating good profit and healthy loss ratios across your account.
You must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), together with the ability to trade with brokers on individual cases and overall accounts. You will also pride yourself on developing your technical skills, keeping abreast of industry developments, as well as any changes to in-house or FCA regulations.
You will receive a salary of up to £60,000 (potentially more for outstanding candidates), plus a highly lucrative bonus and a host of benefits including 4 X DIS, free family travel insurance, and subsidised gym memberships.
