Caroe Architecture is looking for a Part 2 or recently qualified architect to join its studio in London or Cambridge, UK.
Caroe Architecture is dedicated both to the care and conservation of historical places and to the creation of innovative new buildings and enhancements. Our expertise ranges from ecclesiastical settings to complex urban, educational and cultural environments. We currently have live project work including both new design and conservation for the National Trust, Oxford and Cambridge University Colleges, St Paul’s Cathedral, York Minster and a wide variety of other interesting grade 1 and 2 listed buildings and Scheduled Ancient Monuments, including industrial heritage.
We are looking for a Part 2 or recently qualified architect with up to 3 years of experience to support our senior team. You will ideally have a minimum of one year of UK technical and project experience since completing your Part 2. Previous work on historic buildings is desirable. An interest in working towards conservation accreditation from either the AABC or RIBA schemes is an advantage. Good project opportunities to acquire experience and responsibility are available for the right candidate.
Summary of role requirements:
1. Part 2 or recently qualified architect registered with the ARB with a minimum of one year of relevant UK experience post-Part 2 qualification
2. Developing design and technical skills, with an understanding of and support for projects through all RIBA project stages, demonstrating sensitivity towards and delight in historic buildings, and a proven enthusiasm for high quality design and construction
3. An excellent command of English, both written and spoken
4. Demonstrable experience of and interest in historic buildings is desirable; and an advantage if working towards the AABC or RIBA conservation accreditation
5. AutoCAD proficiency
6. Good presentation skills (Photoshop and InDesign) are desirable
7. Good modelling skills (SketchUp/Rhino and/or other 3D-modelling packages) are desirable
8. Developing knowledge of the UK building industry and building regulations
9. Developing interest, knowledge, and experience in the sustainable retrofit of historic buildings is an advantage
10. Good organisational and communication skills required
