Why this role matters
Transmission connectivity is a key building block in our customers' networks. Transmission Optical services are a key revenue stream for BT and this role is the key player in bringing it to life.
You’ll be working with our engineering services colleagues to provide, recover and integrate our customers' services. By providing the full wrap and owning issues impacting our delivery, you’ll be a key agent in ensuring successful delivery. This is vital to ensure we provide within our service level agreements. You’ll work on key projects for National Critical Infrastructure, providing the network which keeps the nation safe and protected.
You’ll also be working with key programmes to evolve BT’s transmission estate, bringing it into the future with new technologies such as radio, reducing our power consumption to vendor audits.
Our commitments with Ofcom mean we have to be sensitive with the information we share and who we share it with; you’ll work with integrity and mindfulness to ensure we remain compliant.
New technologies put us on the cusp of a real delivery evolution; you’ll be embracing new element managers to explore automation opportunities. Providing the expertise, you’ll be able to design solutions to deliver our services in new ways.
This role is based in our Birmingham office and our hybrid working model means you are expected to be in the office 3 days per week.
You'll have the following responsibilities
1. Creating and planning network solutions, utilising appropriate planning rules to support customer and platform requirements.
2. Living by our commitments to Ofcom. In this role, you will ensure all potentially sensitive information is handled in line with the required regulatory compliance marker.
3. Act as a SME to deliver automation, relevant system developments, process changes and the introduction of new processes.
4. Data analysis on what we are delivering compared to forecast.
5. Seeks continuous improvement and efficiency opportunities in order to automate, centralize, standardize and simplify processes, contributing to the delivery of improvement projects and initiatives.
6. Champion the customer requirement, focusing on the delivery of high-quality products, meeting the customers’ needs and expectations.
7. A pro-active professional, quick to respond to the demands of the business and customer, being responsible and accountable for your actions and the impact it has on the business, network and customer.
8. Responsible for the identification of personal and team knowledge gaps, identifying a suitable source of training to support personal and team development to the benefit of the business and customers. Additionally, responsible for identifying and applying for funding to support this.
9. Own and manage any incidents or escalations, devising solutions with other business areas as required, implementing these in the network to deliver value to BT and their customers.
10. To work flexibly to meet the needs of the business and customers, in line with change management constraints.
11. May represent the company in legal proceedings.
12. Communicate clearly, presenting data and technical subjects in a clear way to ensure understanding by all stakeholders to support decision making.
