Job Title: Technical Manager

Salary: £70,000 – £80,000

Job Purpose:
To support the technical department and Quality in the production environment. The Technical Manager ensures product safety, quality, and legality through the continuous development of the HACCP and quality systems.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Ensure technical, specification, or legislative information is provided to customers in a timely manner.
2. Evaluate products during the development stage to ensure adherence to customer protocols, standards, and factory capabilities.
3. Manage customer visits, audits, and trials from a technical perspective.
4. Work with the site technical team to ensure technical standards are implemented and always achieved.
5. Communicate all relevant information regarding changes, amendments to the Quality Manuals, customer product specifications, working practices, and legislation requirements to all relevant staff.
6. Carry out internal audits to check procedures and policies.
7. Ensure that the department’s personal hygiene, housekeeping, health & safety, and welfare levels are always maintained to a high standard.
Experience:
1. Technical experience in meat.
2. Ability to highlight potential amongst colleagues and develop, in conjunction with personnel, to ensure succession planning is in place.
3. Experience in QA, HACCP, Food Safety, and Allergen Management.
Knowledge:
1. Ability to execute and implement change as necessary to ensure continued profitability of the department.
2. Experience in a customer-facing technical role.
3. HACCP Level 3 (Level 4 preferred).
4. Internal auditing training.
5. Third-party auditor training.
