As a rolling stock engineer, you will provide engineering leadership, supporting a variety of train systems, with a particular focus on Electrical/Battery Traction and Control systems, as well as supporting tendering exercises for the introduction of new Rolling Stock to the UK Network. As part of the Central Engineering Team, you will provide expert level support to achieve effective fleet performance and life cycle costs throughout the Rolling Stock business. You'll make an impact by Undertake investigations of local and multi-fleet engineering issues Mitigate associated engineering risks related to safety and technical issues ensuring no additional risks are imported to the operational railway Lead investigations into Safety Related Defects / Technical Incidents Develop modification procedures required to improve safety and performance issues Provide engineering expertise to support the development of maintenance optimization, component overhaul and repair regimes. Utilizing standard engineering tools Production of specifications for engineering activities Production of risk assessments and business cases to support engineering recommendations as required Monitor industry practices to identify processes, maintenance and material changes that will improve rolling stock performance and achieve business objectives Electrical and software systems engineering workstreams Your success will be grounded by Proven experience of rolling stock maintenance, planning and IT systems Relevant Engineering qualification or equivalent experience Experience of Rail Vehicle maintenance and/or R&D Previous experience of writing engineering documentation, technical reports, overhaul and maintenance instructions. Good communication skills written & oral Good knowledge of IT systems/software Electrical/Electronic based system knowledge Software Development experience (Python, experience of source control i.e. Git) It would be beneficial to have: Chartered Engineer or working towards chartered status Software Development experience (object orientated programming) Simulation modelling and data analysis You'll benefit from Our compensation package includes a competitive salary, company bonus, holiday allowance and pension.
