Job Responsibilities/Objectives
The primary role of a Lineman is to install, maintain, and repair high-powered electrical lines and systems. A Lineman works on both transmission and distribution lines that originate from a power plant and extend to individual buildings or homes. To ensure that the Company takes all reasonable measures to provide a safe working environment for its employees, the general public, contractors, and visitors.
1. To promote, develop, and maintain a positive Company-wide health, safety, and environmental culture.
2. Stop and report any situation that you deem to be a danger to yourself or others. Report immediately any hazardous conditions to those responsible and keep records of all such inspections and hazards.
3. Working as a Linesman, you will be responsible for day-to-day operational outputs.
4. Reporting directly to your chargehand, you must be goal-oriented, a team player, and determined to succeed in all aspects of the work.
5. Take responsibility for daily work tasks, as instructed by your chargehand or by your supervisor.
6. Take part in team briefs and tool box talks.
7. Adhere to the safety rules as set out by the Company and its Client.
8. You will be competent in completing your daily tasks and paperwork required (Permits) to control the network that you and all team members will be working on, at any given time.
9. Read switching instructions and diagrams to allow you to isolate and earth the Network.
Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:
1. Knowledge of build and an in-depth understanding of the Permit to work procedures.
2. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
