JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT AGRICULTURAL MARKET ANALYST LOCATION: THE LIVESTOCK AND MEAT COMMISSION HEADQUARTERS, LISBURN POST HOLDER: PERMANENT Closing Date: 12noon on Wednesday 11th December 2024 Background The Livestock and Meat Commission (LMC) is Northern Irelands industry-led organisation responsible for supporting the development, promotion and marketing of the £1.5bn beef and sheep meat industry. LMC works with a broad range of stakeholders in industry, education, research, knowledge transfer, government, retail, media and the general public in the design and delivery of services. THE ROLE LMC is seeking to recruit a high calibre individual to the role of Assistant Agricultural Market Analyst. This is an excellent opportunity to join the market intelligence and data management team, creating high quality analysis and updates for the beef and lamb industry. Reporting to the Agricultural Market Analyst, you will be involved in data collection and analysis, supporting the work of the market intelligence team and ensuring outputs are produced to the highest possible standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain and develop databases, including data entry, compilation and administration Contribute to the development of market intelligence services including supporting the team in the development of existing and new datasets and dashboards Develop and disseminate information involved in the promotion of NI beef and lamb markets Assist in the analysis of industry trends and market developments, supporting the team in interpreting market insight research and communicating information to relevant stakeholders Provide statistical support to the team involving regular contacts with livestock marts and meat processing plants Other responsibilities as required by line manager LOCATION Hybrid office / home working with office base at LMC headquarters in Lisburn Some travel within Northern Ireland and occasionally UK / Europe Access required to a form of transport for discharge of duties YOU WILL NEED ESSENTIAL CRITERIA Either degree in data science / statistics / agriculture or other relevant discipline or 3 A Levels (or equivalent) at grades A-C in any subject but preferably one in a numerical or computing subject (e.g. maths, economics, science, computer science) and at least 24 months post-qualification experience working with data and/or in the agri-food industry and Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills Excellent analytical skills, including a high level of competence and experience in using a range of computer packages, particularly Excel Proven numerical ability and experience in data analysis with an attention to detail Effective time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage deadlines DESIRABLE CRITERIA Experience of using applications such as SQL, Power BI or similar Knowledge of the agricultural industry PERSONAL QUALITIES Excellent time management and self-motivation Ability to make decisions, work on own initiative and accept responsibility Diplomatic with good interpersonal and communication skills Competent in dealing with confidential information OUTLINE TERMS & CONDITIONS Salary £30,721 to £31,352 (under review) Permanent up to full-time (37.5 hours per week) Flexible working arrangements can be considered within the scope of LMCs Flexible Working Policy 20 days annual leave (rising with service to 27 days) 12 public and privilege leave days.
