NES Fircroft are currently recruiting a Project Engineer (Electrical) on behalf of ConocoPhillips. The role will be based in the Wynyard offices. Long-term contract opportunity.
The ConocoPhillips Norsea Terminal, located in Teesside at the mouth of the river Tees, is a crude oil reception, processing, storage, and trans-shipment installation. The terminal also fractionates natural gas liquids into ethane, propane, and butane.

Reporting to the Strategic Projects Team Leader, the candidate will be working within a small team of engineering professionals, supporting the relevant Project Manager in the development and execution of the project portfolio. These are multi-discipline projects (predominantly electrical biased) from definition through to front-end engineering, HAZOP, Detailed Design, Construction and Commissioning.
Job Role:
* Support the Project Manager in an Electrical Project Engineer capacity in the development and on-time execution of a portfolio of predominantly electrically biased multi-discipline projects executed within equipment outage windows.
* Support the development and execution of projects, ranging from definition through to front-end engineering, HAZOP, Detailed Design, Construction & Commissioning.
* Provide overall project engineering and liaise as necessary with those affected by the project as required.
* Manage and control any modifications / changes through the management of change process, in compliance with site standards and current legislation.
* Analyse problems and provide technical input to drive appropriate and pragmatic solutions.
* Lead / support electrical design reviews and studies.
* Liaison / interface with the relevant Engineering Technical Authority on issues and deviation request including developing technical specifications.
* Support project cost control, schedule attainment, forecasting and ensuring that the work scope is effectively and efficiently delivered.
* Carry out audits and readiness reviews to ensure projects are in compliance with the project delivery process and are aligned with key delivery milestones.
* Proactive management of stakeholders, chairing / supporting project meetings and other key forums.
* Support the preparation of tenders and participate in bid analysis for key packages of work.
* Support the develop of cost estimates and funding requests.
* Drive continuous improvement and development of the project delivery model to become best in class.
* Proactively participate in safety and design and construction reviews.
* Contribute to risks reviews and risk assessments.
* Attend FAT’s, SAT’s and provide quality assurance for construction activities.
* Support completions with technical review and punch listing of modifications.
* Be a visible safety champion within the organisation driving standards and supporting incidents and investigations where necessary.
* Actively lead project completions including associated paperwork such as completion records.
* Represent the Company to site visitors, contractors, and suppliers as required.
Competency Requirements
* Degree educated in relevant Engineering Discipline (preferably Chartered status or working towards).
* Good Project engineering and technical background in the electrical discipline.
* Demonstrable experience of managing and delivering small to medium scaled multi-disciplined projects.
* Knowledge & experience of LV/HV Electrical switchgear systems.
* Engineering & Maintenance experience in Oil & Gas, Petro-Chemical or other regulated industry.
* Demonstrable understanding of other engineering disciplines such as Electrical, Mechanical, Piping, Static Vessels, Civil, Asset Integrity and Rotating Equipment.
* Familiarity with relevant legislative requirements including Electricity at Work Regs, BS7671 Electrical Wiring regulations and ATEX / DSEAR.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Flexible and adaptable, demonstrating a positive “can do” approach to work.
* Ability to function well within a team environment.
* Demonstrable leadership skills and experience.
* Effective time and workload manager.
* Ability to use Microsoft packages.
