Then this is your opportunity As an R&D Chemist, you will develop and maintain products, in consultation with the Manager/Senior Chemist, by preparing, testing, and evaluating the paint/binder/raw materials contributing to the achievement of the goals of the R&D plan. You will be part of a professional and vibrant environment and your workplace will be in our state-of-the-art Intumescent Research and Development Laboratory located in our UK site in Flixborough. Jotun’s global R&D activities on Intumescent Coatings are centred in our state-of-the-art laboratory in Flixborough, UK, with five supporting regional laboratories around the world. It is, therefore, a pleasure to announce that a full-time, permanent position has become available as an R&D Chemist. Responsibilities: Carry out required development and maintenance tasks by planning, formulating, testing, and evaluating recipes and raw materials. This is carried out in consultation with the Manager/Senior Chemist and in accordance with the R&D plan. Report the results from development and maintenance work both orally and written to ensure that the correct decisions, based on current experience, are made. Search for and make use of knowledge through literature, practical experience, learning from others as well as attending courses to be able to work more independently with more complex R&D tasks. Have recipe responsibility for assigned products through maintenance and following up towards production and marketing departments to ensure that the quality of the product satisfies the market requirements and according to environmental regulations. Participate in project work and project groups with professional and practicable input. Knowledge and use of the necessary safety equipment as described and to take into consideration general safety; this includes being able to understand the content and the meaning of safety data sheets. Attend to the daily order in the laboratory so that the workspace is tidy, safe and pleasant.
