First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic business who are looking to recruit an Armourer on a permanent basis and to predominantly be based at their Lulworth depot.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Inspection, servicing, repair and overhaul of weapons and armour systems, assemblies and general equipment. Manufacture of miscellaneous items.
2. Carrying out examination tasks to meet production needs subject to necessary training and proficiency.
3. Carry out work to the required standard and specification as detailed on the job card in accordance with the customer requirements, current regulations, local instructions, processes and other approved technical publications.
4. Diagnose, inspect and assess weapon systems, vehicles and associated mechanical / electrical / armour equipment in line with skills & competency.
5. Ensure all job transactions are accurately recorded and carried out in accordance with current ERP processes and that work completed and time taken to complete the job is submitted daily to the department / section Supervisor.
6. Completion of vehicle and equipment documentation and test certificates / reports to current standards.
7. Ensure stores and equipment issued to job are used for their correct purpose and un-used or new faulty material is returned to the section / department Supervisor as soon as it is identified.
8. Ensure all weapons systems and component parts are stored and transported securely, in accordance with relevant policies and UK firearms legislation. Report any potential or actual security related incidents or breeches immediately to line management.
9. Maintain the requirements of COSHH, Health & Safety and other statutory regulations. Ensure a good standard of housekeeping, cleanliness and safety in the work area is maintained at all times. Comply with local policy on the correct disposal of hazardous or waste products.
10. Inform the Supervisor of any issues which directly affect the repair process and any additional work to the task which is not detailed on the job card is deemed necessary to complete the task.
11. Consult Supervisor regarding any problems affecting Quality or Health & Safety.
12. Provide support across internal trade boundaries and Mobile Support Teams (MST) on a voluntary basis.
Skills and Qualifications:
13. Educated to Level 3 in Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) / National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in an Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering discipline as a minimum (Advanced Apprenticeship, Level 3 VRQ/NVQ)
14. Has demonstrable awareness of AESP documentation
15. Has conducted weapon equipment courses or have significant demonstrable equipment familiarisation
16. Has conducted training to operate overhead crane (essential if used in position-specific work area)
17. Holds valid mechanical handling equipment operation qualification
18. Holds Military Class 1 Armourer Qualification
19. Holds valid and appropriate UK driving licence
20. Holds valid UK driving licence with Categories C, C+E and H
21. Has equipment specific training and experience
22. Competent PC user (MS Office, MS Outlook, SharePoint, ERP system)
