The Acute Stroke Therapy Service offers specialist stroke rehabilitation on the hyper-acute and acute stroke unit as well as an enhanced early supported discharge service to provide well supported more timely discharges from the acute hospital setting, delivering care closer to home and addresses the physical, psychological and social wellbeing needs of the population. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and forward thinking Occupational therapist who is interested in developing their specialised rehabilitation skills both within the acute setting and within the outreach service providing Early Supported Discharge. You will be an integral part of our innovative and friendly team working with patient’s following specialised care; the integrated therapy team covers a 7 day working week from 07.30 until 20.00. You will require excellent interpersonal skills to enable you to work closely with a range of staff from various professional backgrounds. You will provide early rehabilitation for specialised patients, setting goals & treatment plans to be followed by the interdisciplinary team. You will also be promoting a seamless transition from the acute hospital to the home environment whilst continuing to work towards patient’s rehabilitation goals in their own home or normal place of residence. The ability to develop & sustain good working relationships with colleagues & peers is essential. You must demonstrate an empathetic approach & be responsive to patients needs & be flexible in your approach to work & adaptable in carrying out your tasks, managing your own workload & working unsupervised.
