Internship Hospitality, Events & Tourism, Marketing & Communications
We are looking for a motivated and creative Marketing & Sales Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in marketing, sales, hospitality, food and beverage, social media management, content creation, digital marketing strategies, and much more. You will also gain insight into how the Banquet/Function department operates, from event planning to execution. The internship provides exposure to various areas of the Club’s operations, including Food & Beverage, the Pool & Pool Café, Golf & Tournament, and more.
Working closely with the Director of Marketing & Sales, the intern will play a key role in meeting and exceeding the expectations of our members, clients, and guests. The ideal candidate will be passionate about high-quality service, stay on top of social media trends, possess strong communication skills, and have an eye for detail. This role involves collaborating with multiple departments to enhance our member, client, and guest experiences, HCC’s online presence, and engage with our audience and community effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
* Gain exposure to various Club departments, including Clubhouse, Office, and Pool areas.
* Learn how to execute different types of events, from weddings to corporate meetings and large member gatherings.
* Participate in team meetings reviewing upcoming events.
* Create engaging content, including graphics, videos, printed materials, and written posts that align with our brand.
* Research industry trends and competitor activities to inform content strategies, generating ideas for marketing and growth of the organization.
* Manage daily social media interactions, responding to comments and messages promptly.
* Assist in developing and executing social media strategies across platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
* Assist in monitoring analytics to assess campaign effectiveness and suggest improvements.
* Assist DMS with Prospective and Booked Clients in Planning Events (shadowing tours, room layouts, BEO development, day of coordination…)
* Anticipate and exceed guest expectations, providing top-notch customer service.
* Maintain composure in a fast-paced environment, addressing concerns urgently and appropriately.
* Other assignments and responsibilities as deemed necessary by DMS and Club Management.
Desired Experience & Skills:
* Experience or coursework in marketing, hospitality, management, or communications is a plus.
* Proficiency in Canva and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher).
* Familiarity with social media and video editing software is desirable.
* Passion for content creation and storytelling through digital mediums.
* Experience or knowledge of the food and beverage industry preferred.
* Ability to work independently while supporting the team in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to handle and resolve issues quickly and calmly, with good follow-up skills.
* Flexibility to work varying hours and a changing environment.
* Internship positions are available for Spring-Summer, seasonal/part-time, hourly.
* Opportunity to work under the Director of Marketing & Sales and collaborate with other departments.
* May be expected to work nights and weekends as part of the events industry schedule.
* Paid position with a wage starting *at least* $17.00 per hour, dependent on candidate experience, availability, etc.
* Minimum 12 hours/week, dependent on candidate experience, availability, and coursework/class schedule.
Qualifications:
* Strong passion for the hospitality industry.
* Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
* Positive attitude, self-motivation, and strong teamwork skills.
* Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
* Hospitality, marketing, management, or sales major or previous hospitality experience preferred.
* Ability to lift up to 30 pounds (e.g., trays, banquet equipment).
* Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift for up to 8-10 hours a day.
