Consultant Psychiatrist, Worthing Crisis team and Haven (attracts RRP)
Are you an experienced General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist with a passion for teamwork and dynamic care environments? This dual-role position primarily involves working with the Worthing Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team, while also providing clinical support to the Haven--a nurse-led 23 hour assessment urgent care unit.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with two dedicated, multi-disciplinary teams to provide intensive community-based support to service users. This role serves as a vital alternative to inpatient psychiatric admissions, offering varied and fulfilling experiences.
* Conduct comprehensive assessments of acutely unwell individuals and prescribe medications to complement therapeutic interventions provided by the Crisis Team/Haven, helping service users embark on their recovery journey.
* Work closely with clinical band 7s and the wider team to support individuals recently discharged from hospital, as well as those awaiting beds in the community. You'll play a key role in offering short-term interventions aimed at reducing the need for inpatient admissions.
* Take an active part in professional meetings, complex case reviews, reflective practices, and lead in multi-disciplinary team decisions.

Main duties of the job
Comprehensive Assessments & Treatment Plans: The post holder will conduct thorough assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for patients under the care of the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team. This will include extended assessments for those attending the Haven.
Clinical Leadership: You will provide clinical leadership within the team, guiding patient care and ensuring the effective delivery of services. Additionally, you will have direct line management responsibilities for junior medical staff who report to you.
Educational & Clinical Supervision: There will be opportunities to contribute to the development of medical posts and take on educational roles, including the clinical supervision of GP trainees, core mental health trainees, and higher trainees. This responsibility will be assigned in coordination with the locality tutor.
Person Specification
Essential and desirable
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
* Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
* In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
* Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.
