Say Care are recruiting an Apprentice Personal Assistant to join their domiciliary care team based in West Wight.
Say Care provide services for clients in their own homes, supporting independent living. This includes a wide range of services from basic domestic services like cooking and cleaning to shopping, taking clients out for walks and social activities.
Personal Assistants can either be carers or non-carers. The non-carers will provide services such as domestic duties which do not involve any activity that would be governed and fall under our CQC regulations. Personal Assistants are responsible to their nominated supervisor.
Duties / Responsibilities
1. Assist clients in their homes as detailed in their care plan to enable them to live independently and with dignity.
2. Promote independence with the client, making them aware of their limitations that could put them at risk.
3. Encourage the client with positive feedback.
4. Communicate clearly with the client, being aware of any communication difficulties.
5. Maintain the dignity and respect of the client.
6. Complete communication book in the clients’ home, clearly and accurately.
7. Keep good timekeeping as per the clients’ schedule.
8. Be aware and follow safeguarding procedures and report any safeguarding concerns immediately.
9. Be aware and always follow Infection Control procedures and report any concerns immediately.
10. Ensure the communication book is read and understood regarding past visits to ensure awareness of any changes or problems.
11. Be aware of the Data Protection Act and confidentiality of the client.
12. Dress appropriately for work and always use the correct PPE in line with current guidance.
13. Record timesheets and mileage records accurately and hand them into the office on time.
14. Report to the office any concerns with the client immediately.
15. Follow the company Health and Safety policy.
16. Ensure you are familiar with the Lone Working policy and follow its guidelines.
17. Attend training to keep your skills up to date.
18. There may be individual tasks assigned to Personal Assistants, for which there will be training and will then form part of your responsibilities.
Training Provided
The successful candidate will be working towards the Level 2 Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship with HTP Apprenticeship College.
Candidates will need to have achieved maths and English at GCSE or equivalent Grades A-C (9-4) or Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English before completing the Apprenticeship standard.
Off-the-job training will be provided, where you will have the time to complete your portfolio work, attend off-job training seminars and have allocated time for mentoring and being shadowed.
