Saracens Multi-Academy Trust (SMAT) is committed to serving the local community of Barnet and ensuring every child attending one of our schools receives a well-rounded experience, with an equal focus on academic and character education. This is brought to life through our shared values of Discipline, Hard Work, Honesty, and Humility.
The Trust was established in 2017, as a joint initiative between Saracens Rugby Club and its owners. Saracens High School opened in 2018 and now educates over 1,140 pupils. Saracens Bell Lane joined the Trust earlier this year and a further three-form entry primary is set to join us in September 2025 (subject to completion of due diligence). A new Free School, Saracens Primary School is timetabled to open in September 2026.
We now seek a strategic and dynamic CEO who has both commercial and educational experience and who passionately believes in our Vision and will uphold the Values and Ethos that are central to everything we do at SMAT. The appointee will inherit a thriving community that looks to its future with considerable confidence and ambition. They will harness the expertise of a strong Central Team and our Principals to foster an ethos of continuous improvement.
The incoming CEO will offer a record of successful strategic, operational, and people leadership in complex, evolving organisations. As SMAT continues to grow, the appointee will need to demonstrate confidence in leading change management initiatives, or have spent time in an organisation going through growth / a period of evolution. As the leader of SMAT’s strategy, the CEO will work with the Principals to drive educational improvement and with the CFOO to ensure the Trust’s financial sustainability, at all times engaging with stakeholders with professionalism and integrity. The appointee will possess exceptional interpersonal skills and, as SMAT’s ambassador, uphold and lead through our Values. Stepping into post in November 2025, our new CEO will demonstrate a profound resonance with academic and social development and the transformative power of education.
The closing date for applications is Friday 31st January at 9am GMT.
