We have a great opportunity for an Estimator to join our growing team in the Bristol office. You will be working on projects in the Defence, Arts & Culture, Commerce and Industry, Education, Emergency Services, Sports and Leisure, Religious Buildings, Healthcare and Residential sectors.

Job purpose
To co-ordinate estimating resources in conjunction with pre-construction manager as well as personally preparing and producing competitive bids which take account of all project risks and customer requirements.
Experience
* 3 years experience in a similar Estimating or Surveying role in the UK Construction Industry.
* Good commercial understanding of the construction industry, market rates and competitors
* Good understanding of analytical estimating, measurement and first principals pricing
* Detailed knowledge of traditional and alternative construction methods including design management
* Understanding of alternative forms of procurement including frameworks, two stage and design & build
* Detailed understanding of ConQuest estimating software and standard Microsoft IT packages
* Strong personal negotiating experience
Required Qualifications
* Degree / HNC in Building Studies or similar.
* Demonstrable commitment to continuing professional development
Preferred
* MCIOB or MRICS chartership preferred but not required
Primary Responsibilities
Overview initial enquiry
* Evaluate enquiry documents, guide pre-construction manager on suitability of opportunity and winning tender strategy
* Check tender documentation and confirm receipt in conjunction with bid / pre-construction manager
* Select and coordinate sub-contractors and suppliers
* Identify and procure bills of quantities and specialist tender support where required
Leadership
* Promote the Beard values and culture internally and externally
* Coordinate with project delivery teams in linking pricing and work winning supply chain
* Promote continuous improvement and the profitable development of the Company
Creating compelling offer and proposals
* Understand customer key objectives and ensure a bid winning strategy is adopted
* Check all tender submissions for completeness and obvious errors – complete a computational check of tender summary.
Post tender
* Attend / lead the post tender handover meeting and provides a smooth transfer of information to the construction team
* Assemble all tender information and hand over in a coherent fashion
* Explain rationale behind tender to project team and secure full ‘buy in’
