Job Title NQ Solicitor - Health and Safety Team Job Location Aberdeen Job Type Fee earners Country/Territory Scotland Region UK & Europe Description NQ Solicitor - Health and Safety Team - Aberdeen We are looking for an enthusiastic NQ solicitor to join our expanding and busy regulatory practice in Aberdeen. The role will focus on Health & Safety, representing clients being prosecuted in the criminal courts for health and safety breaches and at fatal accident inquiries. It will also involve assisting clients following major health and safety incidents, guiding them through their own investigation and those undertaken by regulatory bodies including the police and HSE. From time to time it might also involve criminal prosecutions relating to road traffic fatalities. Some court experience would be useful but as this is a specialist role, full training will be provided. The role will be working with Mark Donaldson who is recognised by the legal guides for his expertise in this area (Chambers band one, Legal 500 leading individual) Clients consist of household names, local authorities and offshore operators. We place a great deal of importance on having strong working relationships within the office and work collaboratively but with high levels of ownership of your cases. Essential Skills & Experience You will be a highly determined individual able to adapt well within a demanding, fast-paced team. You will be able to show initiative and take the lead on matters, working well within a team. The role is client facing and sometimes requires travel within Scotland. You will have an interest in working on Health and Safety matters. You will enjoy being challenged by complex legal issues and expanding your knowledge. You will be focussed on delivering a highly professional service to clients. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will take responsibility for: Working with all members of the team - you will be exposed to a variety of work, but predominantly acting on behalf of a range of insurance companies and self-insured commercial organisations. Assisting and handling a varied caseload, as well as appearing regularly in the Sheriff Court. Carrying out investigations including taking witness statements. Identifying information requirements and securing required documentation/evidence. Adhering to reporting and reserving requirements in relation to different client requirements. File Management - including initial reports, updating reports and correspondence. Attending and appearing at court. You will support the Partners in servicing existing clients, growing new business and maintaining relationships with clients using technical excellence and innovation. Drafting of all legal documents and client advice. Supporting marketing and business development activity with the team and the wider Clyde & Co casualty group.
