Communication and relationship skills
Essential criteria
1. Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
2. Skills in providing consultation & supervision to other professional and non-professional groups.
3. Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
4. Commitment to support the Trust's Value.
Desirable criteria
1. Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialised psychological therapies or assessment methodologies.
2. Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
3. Experience of leading meetings and delivering training.
Analytical and Judgement skills
Essential criteria
1. Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
2. Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including both quantitative and qualitative methods.
Desirable criteria
1. Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies for children with neurological conditions.
2. Experience in research, audit and service evaluation.
3. Knowledge of complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology.
Planning and organisation skills
Essential criteria
1. Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS.
2. Ability to identify, provide and promote appropriate means of support to carers and staff exposed to distressing situations.
3. Ability to identify, and employ, as appropriate, clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of clinical practice.
4. Ability to develop and use complex multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional and academic settings.
Desirable criteria
1. Training in the supervision of other psychologists.
2. Experience in clinical supervision.
Physical Skills and Other
Essential criteria
1. Up to date immunisations are required (including TB, HepB).
2. Ability to move between a number of locations within the hospital in a working day, and travel to specific locations within the Region.

Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Postgraduate doctoral level (or equivalent) training in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS.
2. HCPC registration.
3. Experience in paediatric psychology and neuropsychology.
Desirable criteria
1. Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
2. Paediatric psychology training courses.
3. Neuropsychology training course.
Experience
Essential criteria
1. Qualified Clinical Psychologist.
2. Experience of working in an acute hospital setting.
3. Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment.
4. Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision.
5. Experience of working with children.
6. Experience of undertaking detailed cognitive assessments.
Desirable criteria
1. Experience of assessing and treating patients with neurological conditions including epilepsy.
2. Experience conducting clinical research.
3. Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care.
Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
