The role:
1. Work within an active and lively Civil Engineering design team responsible for the design of drainage systems, highway layouts, and S278/S38 schemes.
2. Mentor junior staff members and support their journey towards ICE accreditation.
3. Work with the Associate and Technical Director in the preparation of budgets for prospective projects and in the writing of proposal letters.
4. Co-operate with the Quality Management System (QMS) through undertaking administrative activities.
5. Promote the company brand and reputation through marketing input.
6. Support our regional offices and other departments through knowledge sharing.
7. Work in a design office, with regular exposure to developers, architects, and local authorities.
8. Undertake and manage team resources for design work for drainage systems in accordance with Sewers for Adoption, building regulations, and the SuDS Manual.
9. Undertake and manage team resources for design work for on and off-site highway features, in accordance with the appropriate standards and codes e.g., Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, and Manual for Streets.
What you need to succeed:
1. Line management experience including undertaking appraisals, identification of training, and ensuring performance of junior team members.
2. Team management and resource coordination experience.
3. Experience working with local authorities, developers, and architects on Civil Engineering aspects of a range of schemes.
4. Varied experience working on schemes through the planning process; from pre-app through to condition discharge.
5. Civil Engineering project management experience including projects combining drainage, external works, and highway elements.
6. Plan the work and resources needed to enable effective implementation of engineering tasks and projects.
7. Lead or influence teams/technical specialists, understanding the limits of their skills and knowledge.
8. Manage, prepare, and control costs/budgets of engineering tasks or projects including a significant task or project.
9. Identify, organise, and use resources with consideration of cost.
10. Plan, carry out, and record Continuing Professional Development (CPD) necessary to maintain and enhance competence.
