An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our Information Governance team as an Information Governance Officer supporting the Trust's main IG activities in ensuring compliance with the Data Protection and information rights legal framework.
The IG Officer will work closely to support all Trust staff, advising on information governance best practices, data privacy, data protection, and other records and information governance issues.
This role is responsible for supporting the Trust's IG agenda, bringing together Information Risk Management, Data Protection, Caldicott Principles, Records Management, Registration Authority, Data Quality, Information Security, and Confidentiality.
The post holder will support the completion of the DSP Toolkit for STSFT, coordinating with requirement leads to ensure they are aware of their duties and timescales, and ensuring supporting evidence is available for audit review in a well-structured and orderly manner, including carrying out audits as necessary to ensure compliance with IG policies and procedures and identifying areas for improvement.

Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will manage and enhance the Information Asset and Information Transfer process, working with Information Asset Owners and Administrators to ensure the register is up to date, and report to the SIRO and Senior Management Team.
They will also support the management of DPIAs (including the DPIA log), working with project leads to ensure that DPIAs are completed, and that data protection risks relating to projects are managed appropriately and escalated as necessary.
The position requires good organisational skills and the ability to work independently. The Information Governance Team is busy, and the successful applicant must possess excellent communication skills, exercising a high degree of personal initiative and autonomy, as well as the ability to work flexibly under pressure to achieve within tight deadlines.
Hours will be 37.5 per week to be worked Monday - Friday. The post currently follows a hybrid working approach, with the expectation of two days a week in the office and the rest of the time flexible between the office and home depending on work needs.

Job Responsibilities
The Information Governance Officer will provide ongoing support to and deputise for the Head of Information Governance and Data Protection Officer in the delivery and management of the Trust's Information Governance regime.
To support the overall development, management, and delivery of the Trust's Information Governance Strategy and work programme. To provide IG advice and support internally to the Information Technology Team and to staff working throughout South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust and partner organisations via Service Level Agreements under the direction of the Head of Information Governance.
The Information Governance Officer will lead on the creation of overall information governance policies and procedures specifically in the areas of data protection, confidentiality, information security, and corporate and business records. An ongoing part of this role will be implementing systems and reviewing compliance with the Trust's information Governance Policies and Procedures.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent employment experience.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Knowledge of Risk Management Methodology.
* Knowledge of Project management tools/methodology.
* Experience in IG within a large multidisciplinary organisation.
* PRINCE II Qualified.
* Experience with major integrated NHS IT systems, ideally MEDITECH.
Experience
* Proven experience in an Information Governance / Information Management related role.
* Experience of developing and implementing strategy and delivering against associated projects.
* Experience in delivering demanding and time-restricted projects.
* Experience with NHS IT integrated systems, ideally MEDITECH.
* Experience in Information Governance/Security within the Public Sector/NHS.
Physical Skills
* Good IT and digital skills, comfortable using Microsoft applications.
