JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Teacher - Primary
The successful candidate will be required to be available for the school’s Baker Days in August 2025. In addition to the full-time role of a classroom teacher, the successful candidate will be required to coordinate numeracy and shared education as well as take an active part in the school’s extra-curricular programme, taking charge of a school sporting team.
It is envisaged the successful candidate will teach in upper key stage one / lower key stage two, however, must be flexible to teach in any year group within the school.
Professional Duties
A teacher who is not a principal shall carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require:
1. If employed as a teacher in a school under the reasonable direction of the principal of that school;
2. If employed by a board on terms under which he/she is not assigned to any one school, under the reasonable direction of that board and of the principal of any school in which he/she may for the time being be required to work as a teacher.
Key Responsibilities
1. Planning and preparing courses and lessons;
2. Teaching according to the educational needs of the pupils assigned, including setting and marking work;
3. Assessing, recording, and reporting on the development, progress, and attainment of pupils;
4. Promoting the general progress and well-being of individual pupils and groups;
5. Providing advice and guidance to pupils on educational and social matters;
6. Maintaining good order and discipline among pupils in accordance with school policies;
7. Participating in arrangements for preparing pupils for public examinations;
8. Contributing to the selection for appointment and professional development of other teachers;
9. Coordinating or managing the work of other teachers.
Work Hours
A full-time teacher shall be available for work on 195 days in any year, with specific teaching hours not exceeding 25 per week in a primary school.
