About the role:
As a key player in our team, you will be responsible for ensuring data quality across the business, aligning reporting methods within the regions, and developing comprehensive datasets and models. Your work will provide crucial insights into recruitment processes and the impact of service changes on traincrew. This role is central to driving data-led business decisions, fostering efficiency, and enhancing the way we operate.
Your expertise will assist with operational projects such as timetable changes, training forecasting, and workforce reform. By contributing to these initiatives, you will help shape our strategic direction and optimise our operational effectiveness.

Key responsibilities:
This is a varied and challenging role, but here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include:
Developing tools to analyse data from the Northern Resource Plan, providing insight into leavers, trainee timescales, and depot demographics.
Collating regional data on training and link competency to assist the development of forecasting tools, supporting decision-making and stakeholder reporting.
Auditing links and assessing the resilience of local rosters and processes. Collaborating with the Traincrew Strategy Manager to develop plans to improve and consolidate rosters across the company.
Working with Operational Delivery Teams to interrogate regional reporting methods and consolidate data sets.
Replicating existing tools for driver analysis for the conductor grade, working with regional managers to ensure information accuracy and aid the development of conductor training plans.
During high periods of change, such as timetable changes, work with the Traincrew Strategy Manager to understand changes in diagrams, movement of work, and allocation of work in all regions for both drivers and conductors.

We’re also looking for the following:
Data Analyst Apprenticeship (or equivalent experience in data analysis and processing)
Highly numerate with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Have a high performance and achievement mentality; whilst also being creative and innovative
Confidence to communicate and share best practices in technical skills at community forums, to allow others to learn and develop is desirable.
