The Opportunity
A fantastic challenging new opportunity for an experienced M&E Project Manager, responsible for ensuring the project deliverables meet the client requirements and are delivered safely, to the highest quality, on time and within budget across a wide range of activities.
The role will require a mix of project management, technical engineering and strong stakeholder management. You must be proactive and comfortable working with minimal supervision, but also understand your own limitations and seek support/approval when required. You must be engaged in your own personal development, as it is essential the Project Manager has a strong technical and commercial understanding of most of the areas and services.
The Position
As the Project Manager you will look after a range of live heat network construction projects of the following typical scope:
1. Plantroom and network end of life equipment replacements.
2. Full plantroom and network retrofits to improve performance (e.g. Heat Network Efficiency Scheme funded projects).
3. Heat pump retrofits to decarbonise existing buildings (e.g. PSDS project delivery management).
4. HIU and heat meter upgrade/replacement works.
5. District Heating project installations, including energy centres, buried networks and substation plantrooms.
You will be expected to:
1. Manage a range of projects, with multiple live contracts at different stages of design, construction and commissioning.
2. Oversee and monitor the Health & Safety management of the project, ensuring the relevant RAMS are in place for all internal and external works.
3. Ensure fully compliant with the Construction and Design Management Regulatory (CDM 2015) and ensure that all legal duties are carried out, documented and regularly reviewed.
4. Monitor and measure project expenditure against budgets throughout the project lifecycle and report to line management.
5. Ensure payment applications are carried out monthly with supply chain and then presented to Client. Work/support the finance team to ensure invoices are produced and queries dealt with in a timely manner.
6. Manage tender processes for both design and contractor packages, including preparation of bid materials, review of tender responses, responding to RFIs and making recommendations to the Head of Delivery on appointments.
7. Overall contract management to ensure the work is being delivered in line with the contractual scope/appointments.
8. Manage the projects during delivery. This will involve ensuring the contracted scope is delivered within the agreed budget and timescales.
9. Ensure the projects have sufficient resources allocated to them, and that the resources have suitable experience, competence and training to deliver the scope of works under the contract.
Key Requirements
1. BEng or MEng degree in a relevant engineering discipline OR equivalent qualification in construction/project management. An apprentice background will also be considered.
2. Minimum 5 years' experience in engineering project management and/or technical management of M&E systems/heat networks.
3. A CSCS Card.
4. SMSTS/SSSTS qualified.
5. A HSE recognised First Aid at Work qualification.
6. Budget and contract management of construction packages, ideally M&E and/or heat networks.
Desirable
1. Direct experience of managing the delivery of internal building communal heating system upgrade works (dwelling, network and plantroom).
2. Direct experience with the delivery of major Energy Centre and/or buried network projects for large scale District Heating networks.
3. Knowledge of District Heating network design, construction and operations.
4. APM/PRINCE2 or equivalent Project Management Qualification.
