Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for the management of the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health Engineering Services) aspects in the Calvert Integrated Maintenance Depot. The MEP design works include electrical services, lighting, cooling, heating, ventilation, life safety systems, BMS (Building Management System), and other public health services.
* The candidate will be responsible for coordinating and leading the MEP design for the service systems in three buildings in Calvert IMD, closely supervising the Designers and specialist subcontractors during the design, construction, and handover of the works. This will include integration of PW and any TW / temporary stages, integration of assurance, and managing the delivery of the associated digital deliverables, in line with the construction and overall project programme, cost, and client requirements.
* Attending weekly meetings with the construction team, broader design team, and client in Birmingham, Calvert, and/or London.
* Attending/chairing meetings for MEP issues and providing technical support for their mitigation.
* Support the Client with identifying change, risk, and opportunities while constantly striving for efficiencies and cost savings. A key aspect of MEP is to ensure the design is sustainable, reducing the need for energy consumption, ensuring energy consumption is efficient, and encouraging the use of renewable and low carbon energy solutions.
* Aid in the study of optimization and liaison with the commercial, planning, design delivery teams, and designers.
* Support the link and coordination with construction teams for the management of MEP related issues, engaging with their MEP subcontractors and the Designers.
* Provide technical input and support to relevant commercial communications (SNCs, NCRs, CEs, Departures, etc.).
* Close liaison with the Engineering Managers, Calvert Design Managers, and Calvert architect to ensure timely delivery, optimization, and compliance with the Client’s requirements.
* Close out MEP issues within the area of responsibility in a timely manner.
* Review monitoring reports and certificates. Support progressive technical assurance during the design, construction, and handover process.
Key skills and experience
* Mechanical or Electrical University degree in Engineering.
* Knowledge of key aspects of MEP in buildings design and construction methodology.
* Experience in managing plans and specifications associated with ventilation, heating, cooling, lighting, and other public health engineering services.
* OTM (On Track Machine) buildings experience desirable but not mandatory.
* Good knowledge of relevant building codes and standards.
* Experience in managing and liaising with third parties and other contractors.
* Very good communication skills.
* Focus on sustainable design with reduced carbon emissions.
