Barnsley Hospital NHSFoundation Trust (BHNFT) is delighted to be looking to appoint one whole-timeConsultant in Anaesthesiato join ourteam. This post is to allowexpansion of anaesthetic services to meet activity and service specificationdemands and includes a significant amount of time within the job plan to allowfor daytime work and leadership in Acute pain services.
This is an excitingopportunity to work with our close knit anaesthetic and intensive care team ata thriving district general hospital, while pursuing a significant sub-specialtyinterest in Pain medicine.
This post will suit anappropriately trained clinician with CCT or equivalent in anaesthesia, as wellas significant training/experience in acute pain.
The post will appeal toa clinician who is looking to join a forward-thinking, motivated and friendlydepartment who, in addition to striving for the best possible patient care isalso keen to be supported to work together with the rest of our team. Main duties of the job
To provide, along with colleagues, an efficient and effective Anaesthetic service to Barnsley Hospital
1. Provide anaesthetic services and assist in co-ordinating their delivery within the Trust
2. Lead and develop the acute pain service, alongside our lead pain nurse and two specialist acute pain nurses.
3. Advise clinical colleagues on matters within his/her particular spheres of interest.
4. To work closely with all members of the anaesthetic and theatre team in order to provide a comprehensive, high quality service in all clinical areas.
Training and Education
To participate in the teaching and training programmes including:
5. Joint responsibility for the training and education of the non-consultant medical staff within the department.
6. Contribute to the training of medical students, nurses, theatre staff and paramedics.
7. Involvement in post-graduate and continuing professional development for the department and Trust.
8. To participate in the formal appraisal of junior medical staff in accordance with the guidelines from the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Regional Postgraduate Dean. Develop as an Educational Supervisor.

Qualifications
Essential
9. FRCA or equivalent with CCT in Anaesthetics at the time of commencing the post.
10. Registered with the General Medical Council and on the Specialist Register (within 6 months of interview)
Experience
Essential
11. Satisfactory completion of training as required by the Royal College of Anaesthetists as assessed by the College assessor.
12. Suitable experience in all areas of clinical practice required for the post.
13. Additional training/experience in Pain medicine
Skills
Essential
14. Clinical competence and appropriate training in the range of clinical practice required of the post.
15. Be able to effectively supervise trainees with their clinical practice within the anaesthetic department.
16. The passion and ability to teach and develop junior medical staff, clinical support staff and medical students and enhance their performance.
17. The ability to create, enhance and maintain effective working relationships.
