The role
As a Senior Civil, Structural and Architectural Engineer, you’ll undertake projects through the entire project lifecycle. You will have the opportunity to lead projects from initial scheme and concept design to engineering and detailed design, overseeing construction, right through to eventual decommissioning. This unique role within a consultancy environment makes our projects and work particularly rewarding.
Day to day, you’ll form a leading role within a dynamic design team undertaking traditional, bespoke, and innovative designs of reinforced concrete, steel, and masonry structures for defence, nuclear decommissioning, and nuclear new build projects, as well as support to operating nuclear sites. The projects will principally relate to the design of structures associated with state-of-the-art mechanical handling equipment and their process and electrical systems but can also involve stand-alone civil/structural tasks for various sectors, such as structural inspections and site surveys. Projects will be primarily based in the UK, with some international work. You will design to various normal and extreme loading scenarios, including seismic design, and provide technical leadership and expertise, taking on the role of Technical Lead when required.
The successful candidate will also be expected to:
* Deliver Nuclear design work, inspections, and construction site support on projects for a range of public and private sector clients within the UK and overseas.
* Conduct concept and feasibility studies for multi-discipline design projects.
* Perform analysis and design using engineering software such as Tekla and Robot, as well as producing hand calculations.
* Prepare calculations, CDM activities, Basis of Design, Material Specifications, Scopes of Work, Technical reports, and inter-discipline design coordination and supervision.
* Liaise with technicians in the preparation of Revit models.
* Work with integrated multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-profile projects.
* Ensure all work is carried out with a positive attitude toward safety, both in design and in the office environment.
* Manage project delivery and mentor CS&A Engineers.
This role is full-time, 37 hours per week, providing hybrid working arrangements with two days in the office and three days working from home.
Essential experience of the Senior Civil, Structural and Architectural Engineer:
* Highly experienced in the design of structures in reinforced concrete and steelwork.
* Previous experience within the nuclear industry and design for seismic loading is advantageous but not necessary.
* Awareness and experience of using the latest design codes and standards.
* Understanding of the relevant legal and regulatory standards.
Qualifications for the Senior CS&A Engineer:
* Degree Qualified (BEng or MEng), Civil / Structural Engineer.
* Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with membership of ICE or IstructE, or working towards.
