Job purpose The carry out of electrical maintenance, repair and installation works in accordance with the operational and maintenance plan and budget in order to Improve operational reliability and availability of the plant and machinery at the lowest effective maintenance costs for all equipment, installations and buildings on site. Ensuring all works carried out is done so with Health, Safety, Environmental and Product Quality standards being the priority at all times. Main duties To provide electrical repair and maintenance skills including fault identification and analysis to facilitate repairs, improvements, inspections, adjustments and refurbishments to agreed standards. Installation and commissioning of power and control cabling for, electrical drive and process equipment upgrades and new installation. Repair, maintenance, calibration and testing of process instrumentation, sensors transmitters and transducers of, e.g. load cells for weigh systems, level control devices, PID controllers, proximity sensors, temperature transmitters, etc. Working with, installing and maintaining safety critical control systems and associated interlocks, e-stop circuits, pull wire systems, etc. (electrical [Pilz] and mechanical [Castel/Fortress]) Work alone to find and present faults and concerns in electrical systems without receiving explicit direction Assess the parts needed for jobs and feedback the information to enable required parts to be ordered. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, etc. to ensure, integrity, compatibility and safety of system. Carry out of control and variable speed drive systems, maintenance, inspection set up and repair Installation, maintenance and repair of general facilities electrical equipment including, lighting, emergency light inspection, testing and repair, PAT testing, portable electrical equipment Ensure occupational health and safety, to comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and to observe the requirements of the Company Safety Policy and other relevant legislation Where applicable understand programming/fault rectification on PLC systems associated with the control of production systems, e.g. Allen Bradley SLC/PLC5/Control Logix, Siemens S5/S7, etc. Work LV switchgear, to carry out cable and transformer system inspection and test regimes Ensuring work areas are kept clear at all times and that unused and waste material are returned to stores or properly disposed of at all times. Ensure all work is completed in a safe and timely manner and where required details of work carried out is reported to relevant Supervisor and recorded on Maintenance managements systems. Ensure that tools required for tasks are kept in good condition and that all defects are reported immediately. Be a member of the electrical maintenance callout rota. Performing other duties as requested by the supervisor and management team. To abide by & promote health & safety, ensuring all approved Company safety policies & processes and other relevant legislation is followed. To ensure compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. About You Qualifications Completed a recognised Electrical Engineering apprenticeship, City & Guilds Electrical qualification or relevant NVQ Level 3. IEE 17th Edition Wiring Regulations MEWP / IPAF trained - Desirable Woking at height / harness Training - Desirable Forklift / telehandler trained - Desirable IOSH Working Safely - Desirable Testing and inspection 2391/2 or equivalent. (236 Part 1/ 2) - Desirable Experience Minimum of 4 years previous Electrical maintenance experience gained within the Recycling Industry, heavy industry, quarrying, continuous process industry, etc. 4 years’ experience of Industrial safety standards and systems of work, including equipment isolation, testing for dead and permitting systems. 4 years proven experience of fault finding and problem solving on a range of Heavy Industrial electrical / plc control and power supply circuits. AC/DC / Variable speed drive installation, including understanding of machine operational parameters, i.e. duty types. - Desirable Knowledge Knowledge of Industry safe standards and systems of work, including equipment isolation, testing for dead and permitting systems. Knowledge of IEE Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment Principles of basic bench fitting and engineering standards. Basic operation of main stream computer systems, windows, apple, android, etc. Basic condition monitoring techniques applicable to transformers electrical drive and control equipment. (oil analysis, thermographic surveys, etc.) - Desirable Working knowledge of variable speed drive technologies, inspection set up and repair - Desirable Working knowledge of IEE regulations, City & Guilds 2360 and 2382 qualifications, and inspection and testing certificate (2391) - Desirable LV Electrical distribution and control circuit design and configuration. - Desirable Skills Competent to safely use a variety of basic hand tools, portable electrical equipment, electrical testing equipment Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude. Basic operation and data input using main stream computer operating systems, windows, apple, android, etc. Good communication skills.
