Job overview
UHD requires a candidate to fulfil a Haematology Junior role within our Cancer Care division. The post holder will be based on the wards, experience a wide range of experiences, and undertake on-calls on a 1:7 basis.
They will be required to work with other grades of staff and help out with ward rounds, admitting patients and clinics.
Main duties of the job
1. Clerk and post take administration; writing in patients' notes.
2. Undertake patient reviews.
3. Patient assessment, Drug prescription, Discharge administration.
4. Promptly update patient systems.
5. Attend clinics.
6. Attend Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings.
7. Triage to medical teams/acute physicians as appropriate.
8. Troubleshoot patients on the ward.
9. Participate in ward rounds.
10. Take part in the Haematology on-call shift system.
The post is normal working days 09:00-17:00 plus the on-call rota.
Person specification
Knowledge and skills
* Good communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Experience
* Minimum of 4 months paid NHS experience.
* 6 months experience in Cancer Care specialties such as Haematology and Oncology.
* Evidence of involvement in audit & research projects.
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Working towards or in possession of MRCP Part 1.
