Registered Nurse - Paediatric Emergency Department
We are looking for an experienced emergency nurse with a paediatric interest to work within the Children's Emergency Assessment Unit. The post holder will use their assessment and planning skills to provide the highest quality evidence-based nursing care to our patients. The tasks carried out will be at the highest standard in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct. They will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of their patients and provide support to their colleagues. The post holder will be able to demonstrate the Health Boards Values and Behaviours.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide high quality nursing care to patients attending the department with a focus in paediatrics.
2. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
3. Participate in evidence-based care and ensure continuity of the quality of care.
4. Provide a safe and welcoming environment for patients and their relatives/carers.
5. Act in accordance to legal and statutory guidance and comply with the Health Boards policies.
6. When competent, utilise the skills of venepuncture, cannulation, IV medication administration, triage and apply emergency plaster casts.
7. Respond safely to an emergency and escalate any concerns.
8. Support the department in ensuring the environment meets the required standard of cleanliness and all equipment is maintained in good working order.
9. Be responsible for the support of junior colleagues.
10. Demonstrate effective communication skills.
11. Act as an advocate when representing the patients.
12. Work as part of a large team, use delegation skills and prioritise care.
13. Participate in health promotion.
14. Support the nurse in charge with care and decision making.
15. Ensure all statutory and mandatory training is in date.
16. Be responsible for administering medications to patients.
17. Ensure PPE is worn correctly in line with infection control guidelines.

£30,420 to £37,030 a year per annum pro rata.
