Overview
We are seeking a diligent, experienced Compliance Manager to join our friendly team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our company operates in accordance with all relevant laws and regulations and will provide specialist guidance to support the operational areas and Senior Leadership Team. This is an in person role, so the successful candidate must live in the vicinity or be comfortable commuting.
Acting as a valuable support to the Head of Risk, the role holder will deputise when required and support the Head of Risk in fulfilling their specific obligations as an SMF holder.
Responsibilities
* Supporting the Head of Risk in delivering an agile, responsive, and proactive 2nd line of defence framework.
* To be the primary point of reference for operational colleagues for guidance on the appropriate interpretation of regulations, policies and standards, and the suitability of operational processes in achieving those requirements.
* To assist operational colleagues in the development of their procedures and processes to address areas for improvement identified through compliance monitoring, internal audit reviews or changing regulatory/ policy requirements.
* To ensure compliance with the Society’s and regulators’ procedures, rules, and guidance.
* To develop and execute the Society’s Compliance Monitoring Plan, ensuring key regulatory requirements and the controls and processes associated with these are sufficient to manage the Society’s risks within their appetites.
* Produce clear, concise, and accurate reports for senior management review and approval, outlining clear, relevant actions and recommendations in order to address control weaknesses.
* Respond to Data Subject Access Requests and information requests received from Claims Management Companies or similar enquirers.
* In conjunction with the Risk & Compliance Officer, undertake regular checks on suspicious account activity, transaction monitoring and PEP and sanctions screening to mitigate the risks of financial crime.
* Log and investigate, as directed by the Head of Risk, any issues or incidents that are escalated to the team.
* Deputise as MLRO in the Head of Risk’s absence.
Requirements
* Educated to degree level or QBE.
* Minimum 3 years' experience working within a Compliance Role.
* Full or Part Qualification in Compliance (e.g ICA, IRM, IIA certification).
* Working knowledge of the role DPO and MRLO.
* In depth knowledge of key financial service regulations including the FCA & PRA Handbooks and wider principles.
